More on Impossible Challenges

The Challenge

Attempting the impossible is a curious capacity of human beings. This response may be optional for some highly creative individuals. However, it can be required for anyone who finds themselves overpowered or overwhelmed by events or trapped in a situation that is unwanted. The inner feelings of being crushed, devastated and shattered are often more serious than the external realities, and have to be managed through contemplation and self-discipline.

In ordinary endeavours, fortitude suffices: being resilient enough determined enough, balanced enough, and so on. But in impossible situations, you are typically operating in a world that is uncooperative, actively opposing or blind to the importance and necessity of your efforts. Every ounce of willingness is then required.

The Internal Duality

Any response starts from recognizing and entering a serious involvement (PH7K) and develops by awareness of the seven different requirements of that involvement (i.e. the complete PH7K Tree structure) based on all possible combinations of adjacent levels (i.e. the groupings).

Requirements then form their own Tree framework in which each G• requirement becomes a level GL•. The resulting hierarchy then forms a Tree as explained in this section, with the usual internal duality.

The simpler requirements, GL1-GL4, establish the personal conditions for making an effort: faith via hope, continuity via determination, prevailing via endurance and balance via relationships. These activate and stabilize efforts to attempt the impossible producing a constancy. Constancy grounds responsiveness by demonstrably confirming that the challenge is indeed being addressed.

Blockage here comes mainly from within: emotional moods that discourage, fears that lead to hesitancy and vacillation, a seemingly endless series of obstacles that invite capitulation.

The more complex GL5-GL7 requirements are about ensuring efforts can be productive: drive via capabilities, excellence via ideals, and responsiveness via energies. These are transpersonal drivers that together empower efforts and make them meaningful.

Parallels & Pressures

GL1-Hope is inspiring as a means for constancy, but needs GL5-Capabilities which are means for efforts for anything to happen.

Hope is pressured by by autonomy and selflessness.

Capabilities is pressured by acceptability and certainty.

GL2-Determination can be powerful as a control for constancy, but needs GL6-Ideals as a control for efforts to provide justification.

Determination is pressured by understanding and autonomy.

Ideals are pressured by well-being and acceptability.

GL3- Endurance shows character as the context for constancy, but needs GL7-Energies as the context for efforts for dynamism.

Endurance is pressured by performance and understanding.

Energies is pressured by selflessness and well-being.

GL4-Relationships form the central mediating bridge between inner drivers(G5-G7) for efforts and outer commitment (G1-G3) to constancy.

Relationships are pressured by certainty and performance.
