Oscillation in Unfolding Duality Challenges
Background to this Inquiry
The most recently developed structural hierarchy unfolding duality was in where an oscillation in the uD-Challenges was identified and remarked upon.
The frameworks chosen for study will now be examined in turn with a focus on uD-Challenges.
The uD-Ground is viewed as an expression of the main framework whose oscillation has been regularly identified.
Creativity in Endeavour-
Optimism is the uD-Ground & Confrontation is the uD-Challenge.
In Odd-numbered uD-Challenges, confrontation is generated by
objective phenomena that require a response:
G1: Propositions; G3: Limitations; G5: Critiques; G7: Opportunities.
In Even-numbered uD-Challenges confrontation is generated by
subjective experiences that must be handled:
G2: Exposure; G4: Failure; G6: Inspirations.
As explained earlier, the uD-Ground is tied to the Grouping/Requirement whose oscillating quality is formulated here as:
Odd: An inner-mental-personal orientation for experiences and an outer-practical-social orientation for products.
v
Even: An outer-practical-social orientation for experiences and inner-mental-personal orientation for products.
Producing Goodness-
Natural Goodness is the uD-Ground & Moral Transcendence is the uD-Challenge.
In Odd-numbered uD-Challenges, moral transcendence deals with
a person's engagement with the world:
at G1 via Reflection; at G3 via Involvement; at G5 via Detachment; at G7 via Leadership.
In Even-numbered uD-Challenges, moral transcendencedeals with
a person's development of the self:
at G2 via Independent Thinking; at G4 via Opening the Imagination; at G6 via Self-integration.
As explained earlier, the uD-Ground is tied to the Grouping/Requirement whose oscillating quality is formulated here as:
Odd: Affirmation of goodness.
v
Even: Affirmation of self.
Realizing Values-
Survival (or perhaps Sustainability) is the generic uD-Ground & Progress is the generic uD-Challenge.
In odd-numbered uD-Challenges, progress calls for
differentiation of values and their assertion via:
Principles that distinguish people at G1; Dynamism that varies at G3; Conflict that exposes incompatibilities at G5; and Dissociation that distances from the existing order at G7.
In even-numbered uD-Challenges, progress calls for
collective organisation through integration of values via:
Cooperation to involve and coordinate at G2; Transformation to reconstruct or reconfigure at G4; and Ends that align the community at G6.
As explained earlier, the uD-Ground is tied to the Grouping/Requirement whose oscillating quality has not been systematically investigated, but appears to be:
Odd: Individually-dominated and differentiating.
v
Even: Socially-dominated and integrating.
Attempting the Impossible-
Fortitude is the generic uD-Ground & The World as It is is the generic uD-Challenge.
In odd-numbered uD-Challenges, The World is represented by
external phenomena that invite investigation:
G1: Failure; G3: Blockage; G5: Resistance; and G7: Limitation.
In even-numbered uD-Challenges, The World is represented by
mental states that invite reflection:
G2: Exhaustion; G4: Confusion; and G6: Disappointment.
As explained earlier, the uD-Ground is tied to the Grouping/Requirement whose oscillating quality has been formulated here as:
Odd: Assertion is directed outward and operates independently.
v
Even: Assertion is directed inward and needs social confirmation.
Expectations of Employment-
Comfort is the generic uD-Ground & Ambition is the generic uD-Challenge.
In odd-numbered uD-Challenges, ambition is expressed through
personal affirmation and taking ownership:
at G1 by taking the initiative; at G3 by taking risks; at G5 by taking a stand; and at G7 by taking hard choices.
In even-numbered uD-Challenges, ambition is expressed through
seeking organizational recognition or provision:
at G2 by seeking promotion; at G4 by seeking learning; and at G6 by seeking integrity.
As explained earlier, the uD-Ground is tied to the Grouping/Requirement whose oscillating quality has been formulated here as::
Odd: Personal affirmation (for the employee)
v
Even: Management specification (for the organization).
Political Life in a Society-
Continuity is the generic uD-Ground & Change is the generic uD-Challenge.
In odd-numbered uD-Challenges, change is driven by
a deliberate political intervention:
via Pragmatism at G1; via Opposition at G3; via Re-thinking at G5: and via Action at G7.
In even-numbered uD-Challenges, change is driven by
the social awareness of a persistently unsatisfactory political state:
an Impasse at G2 ; a Reaction at G4; and Discontent at G6.
As explained earlier, the uD-Ground is tied to the Grouping/Requirement whose oscillating quality was systematically investigated and formulated as part of this inquiry and is now posted here:
Odd: Constitution of political agency.
v
Even: Exercise of political agency.
Organising Management-
Management Confidence is the uD-Ground & Management Pressuresis the uD-Challenge.
In odd-numbered uD-Challenges, management pressures are
unavoidable external organisation-based demands:
at G1: personalities; at G3: demands for professionalism; at G5: work crises; and at G7: imposed investigations.
In even-numbered uD-Challenges, management pressures are experienced within managerial consciousness:
at G2: via work surprises; at G4: via the claim of the mission; and at G6: via staff doubts about management.
As explained earlier, the uD-Ground is tied to the Grouping/Requirement whose oscillating quality has been formulated here as:
Odd: Management initiation
v
Even: Management accommodation.
Looking Out for Yourself-
Self-assertion is the uD-Ground & Psychosocial Realism is the uD-Challenge.
In odd-numbered uD-Challenges, psychosocial realism requires
regulating the outward expression of self-assertion to titrate impact:
at G1 via discretion; at G3 via balance; at G5 via restraint; and at G7 via timing.
In even-numbered uD-Challenges, psychosocial realism requires
an internal self-correction based on recognizing vulnerability:
at G2 via humility; at G4 via self-awareness; and at G6 via self-preservation.
As explained earlier, the uD-Ground is tied to the Grouping/Requirement whose oscillating quality is formulated here as:
Odd: External effort that is instinctive and episodic.
v
Even: Internal effort that is advised and continual.
Conclusion
Pattern for Challenges: The different structural hierarchies appear to show different patterns for the uD-Challenge. However, on review, all appear to be versions of:
■ Odd-numbered challenges involve a contextual encounter with something distinct that must be differentiated and /or engaged in a suitable fashion.
■ Even-numbered challenges involve noticing something in the context that must interpreted and accommodated through integration and/or mediation in a suitable fashion.
Comparison with Ground: In comparing oscillation in the uD-Challenges with oscillation in the uD-Ground (i.e. in the structural hierarchy itself), a direct connexion or similarity—not an identity—emerged: the expected finding.
In general, the odd groupings involve an agent-led enactment, while the even groupings involve a context-led accommodation.
