Energize Yourself

The requirement that defines each of the final three Groupings will now be considered as if it is a Level and the impact of the dynamic duality analysed. The Centre(s) that result will be appropriately named and where the level is bipolar, one Centre will be assigned due dominance.

In this set, we will work from above downwards because aspirations (G7) are closest to the source of human energy and foundation for necessary ambitions.

G7: Release Aspirations

Aspirations are the source of all energy for meaningful personal achievement, which is why employers like ambitious staff. Aspirations that direct ambitions are potentially present in everyone. While some ambitions may be frustrated, you must be ready to release aspirations and make a move if and when the time is right.

Dynamic Duality:   The release of aspirations is a personal matter, but aspirations cannot exist without a social crucible for their realization as practical ambitions. There can be no purely socially controlled version here.

In the Tree, this level becomes a single balanced Centre: GL7_B.

Pressures

As proposed for the Grouping, the Centre is under a pressure for GL7-Selflessness, while the Tree pressure is KL7-Selflessness. This pattern may seem surprising because, on the surface, the resulting ambitions appear egocentric. However, aspirations must relate to potentials that we are born with or perhaps born for, and the doubling of the pressure suggests that our deepest aspirations, as distinct from egotistic strivings for power that so often pass for ambition, are independent of our wishes.

G6: Maintain Affluence

Maintaining your standard of living is a serious concern. That requires continuous attention to your general circumstances, including potential threats and opportunities. Misfortune can always strike and that will call for taking steps to remedy the situation and accepting otherwise avoided conditions.

Dynamic Duality:  On the one hand, you can generate a creative response whatever the situation that confronts you. This is a personal matter. On the other hand, there are always social supports that you cannot control, but which you can mobilize.

This means that this level in the Tree will generate two polarized but connected Centres: GL6_S and GL6_P.

We label GL6_S: Mobilize Socio-economic Support
and label GL6_P: Generate Creative Responses

It is typically easiest and more effective to draw in support from friends, relatives, groups, or government agencies. While your creative responses might deal with the situation, they are intrinsically uncertain and the social response can be unpredictable.

So the social Centre is dominant and placed on the right side of the Tree.

Socio-economic support (GL6_S) encourages creative responses (GL6_P). Conversely your creative responses will encourage others to provide support.

So GL6_P ↔ GL6_S is provisionally labelled Encouragement.

Pressures

As proposed for the Grouping, both Centres are under a pressure for GL6-Well-Being, while the Tree pressure is KL6-Autonomy. This appears appropriate: striving for well-being directly influences efforts to maintain a standard of living, and both the striving and the desired standard are highly individualized.

G5: Exert Influence

Where and how you exert influence is a major contributor to your public persona, and the 3 channels of control focus whatever influence you have developed.

Dynamic Duality:  On the one hand, you can often exert influence on a group or particular individuals involved in making choices affecting you. Such activity is solely a matter for you. The situations that you want to control are typically generated by social forces and factors over which no single person has influence. However, you can examine any situation and identify issues and options as a way to shape discussions about choices to be made.

This means that this level in the Tree will generate two polarized but connected Centres: GL5_S and GL5_P.

We label GL5_S: Identify Issues & Options
and label GL5_P: Influence Choices by Others

Identification of issues and options will play the dominant role because that can capture and focus the attention of others. It is well-known that control of the agenda at meetings is used to control outcomes.

So the social Centre is dominant and placed on the right side of the Tree.

Issues and options (GL5_S) will shape discussions that guide choices made by others (GL5_P). Conversely influencing choices will guide the identification of issues and options.

So GL5_P ↔ GL5_S is provisionally labelled Guidance

Pressures

As proposed for the Grouping, both Centres are under a pressure for GL5-Acceptability, while the Tree pressure is KL5-Understanding. This appears appropriate: controlling behaviour must be kept within social limits, and any circumstances activating the use of your influence must be well understood.

If you can release aspirations, maintain your affluence and exert influence on critical matters, then you will have the energy that can sustain a public persona that ensures your social standing.
