Flows in the Framework

Level Progression

Level-by-Level

The channels in the Tree can be combined to reveal an upward flow that corresponds to the progress in cultivating a relationship.

Individualizing your presence commences at L1 with clarity about your views and interests as these are your means of connecting. This encourages proffering disclosures at L2 so as to control a connection, which can be deepened by your intentions at L3. These efforts culminate in assessing fit at L4, which opens the door to feeling comfortable in the relationship.

Once a compatible social relationship is available, it must become a source of strength and release energies not previously available. The first step in harnessing those energies is to claim the relationship at L5 if you do indeed belong. The next step is to sustain participation at L6 so as to settle yourself in a new identity created via the relationship, because this is where comfort is controlled. Finally, the relationship evolves through conflicts and their resolution at L7.

Bypassing a Level

In the Tree, it is evident that levels can be bypassed.

From L1 → L3, there is an investment in the relationship that shows in a willing prioritization and a redirection to respond to an offered engagement.

From L2 → L4, there is a permission to take the relationship seriously.

From L3 → L5, there is a qualification of the relationship in terms of a necessary limitation and the desired affirmation.

From L4 → L6, there is a fulfilment of the relationship based on its endorsement and its sustenance.

From L5 → L7, there is no direct influence.

Investment ↔ Permission ↔ Qualification ↔ Fulfilment

The Three Columns

The Tree has three vertical columns that appear to have distinct functions in any social relationship.

The central spine is where personal and social control are fused, and so it carries the mutuality that maintains a possible relationship.

Conflict ↔ Fit ↔ Disclosures ↔ Views
Remodelling ↔ Permission ↔ Encouragement

The right-side periphery contains the dominant centres and these provide the bounds needed to maintain a possible relationship.

Conflict ↔ Identity (S)↔ Appraisal (S)↔ Intentions (P) ↔ Views
Definition ↔ Regulation ↔ Limitation↔ Prioritization

The left-side periphery contains the subordinate centres and these provide the allowances needed to maintain a possible relationship.

Conflict ↔ Satisfaction (P)↔ Identification (P)↔ Engagement (S) ↔ Views
Counteraction ↔ Reassurance ↔ Affirmation↔ Redirection
