Oscillating Duality

Expectation

All hierarchies in the Taxonomy show an oscillating duality in which the odd-numbered and even -numbered levels are polar opposites. This would be expected to apply to the structural hierarchy, attempting the impossible (PsH7).

Investigation of the unfolding duality revealed an oscilllation in the adversitycatalyst of the duality . Odd adversities were all external phenomena (G1-Failure, G3-Blockage, G5-Resistance, G7-Limitation) while the even adversities were internal states (G2-Exhaustion, G4-Confusion, G6-Disappointment). The fortitude ground states however are all internal.

Outward-Assertion v Inward-Confirmation

The direction of the Grouping requirements appears to show an oscillation in direction between self and the socio-physical milieu, however an integrative quality is also noticeable in each grouping.

G1-Hoping is directed outwards to the situation and calls for personal assertion...

... but G1-Faith is directed both inwards (faith in oneself) and outwards (faith in making progress).

G2-Determination is directed inwards to oneself and is dependent on social confirmation...

... but G2-Promises of Continuity are directed both inwards (stable personal position) and outwards (continuous external application).

G3-Endurance is directed outwards to the situation and calls for personal assertion...

... but G3-Prevailing is directed both inwards (handling oneself) and outwards (handling a situation).

G4-Equilibrium is directed inwards to oneself and is dependent on social confirmation...

... but G4-Movement is directed both inwards (making corrections) and outwards (shifting relationships).

G5-Capability is directed outwards to the situation and calls for personal assertion...

... but G5-Support is directed both inwards (generating self-esteem and agency) and outwards (to the situation and those involved).

G6-Ideals are directed inwards to oneself for inner reference and are dependent on social confirmation...

... but G6-Proficiency is directed both inwards (personal proficiency) and outwards (excellence in performance).

G7-Energies are directed outwards to the situation and call for personal assertion...

... but G7-Responsiveness is directed both inwards (personal readiness) and outwards (to situations needs and demands).

Comparison

The pattern is more nuanced than usual. While the grouping requirement oscillates simply between an outward (odd) and inward (even) impact, the state that develops from the groups is always dual-directional.

This outward-odd v inward-even oscillation in PsH7 appears to be the converse of the oscillating duality in PH7 (as developed here). In PH7, the odd-numbered levels are about personal development and the even-numered levels are about social accommodation.

  • The difference between the Requirements (that oscillate) and the State (that is uniform) needs checking in other Structural Hierarchies.

  • The relationsship and alignment between Primary Hierarchies and Primary Structural Hierarchies in general has never been investigated and needs checking.
