Steps in the Analysis

As can be imagined, your social standing in a community is evident and affects you on a continuous basis. It does not wait for completion of a developmental trajectory before being considered. It does not even wait for you to get your first job.

The generation of social standing has a content-context structure, the internal duality of the Tree structure being developed. The content is about developing a position in the community and the context is about securing that position.

Financial necessities and social strength are the foundation of any standing and this will be considered in this Topic.

However your contribution to the community and wider society quickly becomes pre-eminent, and this will be addressed in the next Topic.

Finally, the effects of a crisis that forces you to look inwards will be considered.

5 Basic Channels

The lower 3 levels in the Tree are strongly oriented towards building wealth, specifically through earning a living. Money alone does not provide security or standing: any investments or business may collapse or be undermined by dishonesty, be commandeered by a government or suffer other catastrophic harm.

So the requirement to build strength and resources at L2 with the widest brief—personal, social, professional, financial, legal—is the basis for enduring security and social positioning.

L2 ↔ L1

Building resources and strengths-L2 requires an attitude of self-reliance and personal independence which depends on becoming financially self-supporting. The reverse applies in that financial independence-L1 requires the development of strengths and the husbanding of resources.

L2_B↔ L1_B is provisionally labeled Requirement

L2 ↔ L3

Expertise and excellence (L3_P) is a special form of strength and any development of strengths (L2_B) should align with that effort. The reverse also holds true in that excellence should always be offered insofar as resources to develop and support it are available.

L3_P↔ L2_B is provisionally labeled Alignment

Adherence to codes and standards (L3_S) protects your reputation which is an essential resource (L2_B). Conversely, your strengths enable you to adhere to and protect communal standards, possibly even contributing to the formulation and establishment of codes.

L3_S↔ L2_B is provisionally labeled Protection

L3 ↔ L1

L3_P-expertise and excellence must be developed and applied with an eye to L1_B-being financially self-supporting. In determining earning potential, there needs to focus on opportunities to monopolize a particular niche and provide high quality needed services.

L3_P↔ L1_B is provisionally labeled Focus

Adherence to codes and standards (L3_S) will contribute to your efforts to be financially self-supporting (L1_B). Conversely, being financially self-supporting (L1_B) fosters adherence to codes and contributes to their validation.
