Psychosocial Pressures

Conjectures

Psychosocial pressures are a conjecture that was introduced to explain the phenomenon of resonance (the similarity of functions that had similar formula) and the apparent "projection" of the 7 Root Levels into all the main taxonomic structures.

The 7 pressures were initially identified and labeled in relation to Primary Hierarchies.

Pressures are instinctive but driven by affective states and needed for psychosocial survival. This differentiates them biologically from instinctual drives that are driven by sensations and needed for physical survival.
See a further analysis here.

The initial research task was:

  • to confirm that this projection could be found in all cases,
    and then
  • to clarify which Root level projected to which level in the 3 main taxonomic structures
    and then
  • to label the pressure being projected and check those labels were fitting and meaningful.

Not surprisingly, the pattern of projection of Root Levels was different for Primary Hierarchies, Principal Typology/Spirals, and Structural Hierarchies.

Additional concepts were developed at this time: Primal Need, the goal of the Root Level) that the psychosocial pressure is seeking to satisfy; and Primal Means, the mechanism which uses psychosocial pressures.to maximize satisfaction of the Primal Need.

These concepts together with the patterning of psychosocial pressures form a simple theoretical superstructure created to manage the taxonomic observations of the previous 35 years.
