Psychosocial Pressures

Conjectures

Psychosocial pressures are a conjecture that was introduced in 2013 to explain the phenomenon of resonance (the similarity of functions that had similar formula) and the apparent "projection" of the 7 Root Levels into all the main taxonomic structures.

The 7 pressures were initially identified and labeled in relation to Primary Hierarchies.

Pressures are instinctive in that they shape affective states of a person, and are needed for psychosocial survival. This differentiates them biologically from instinctual drives that are activated by sensations and needed for physical survival.
See a further analysis here.

The initial research task was:

  • to confirm that this projection could be found in all cases,
    and then
  • to clarify which Root level projected to which level in the 3 main taxonomic structures
    and then
  • to label the pressure being projected and check those labels were fitting and meaningful.

Not surprisingly, the pattern of projection of Root Levels was different for Primary Hierarchies, Principal Typology/Spirals, and Structural Hierarchies.

Additional concepts were developed at this time: Primal Need, the goal of the Root Level) that the psychosocial pressure is seeking to satisfy; and Primal Means, the mechanism which uses psychosocial pressures.to maximize satisfaction of the Primal Need.

These concepts together with the patterning of psychosocial pressures form a simple theoretical superstructure created to manage the taxonomic observations of the previous 35 years.

Development

Frameworks prior to Theory were developed without the benefit of these ideas.

Frameworks in Development contains investigations that were influenced in whole or part by the theory, and often used the ideas to expedite and validate discovery. As part of this work, additional discoveries have been made.

It is timely to bring these discoveries together and review the currently position.

Applications

Increasing the Pressure

Particular pressures are associated with each level in a Tree paralleling the Root Hierarchy oder.

Forcing reversal of oscillating dualities in the Primary Hierarchies led to emergent Trees in which every Centre had the identical pressure—because Centres are selected from the same level in each of the 7 Primary Domains.

Such a concatenation of pressures makes it possible for a person to do things that otherwise seem impossible:

L1's based on Performance:

L2's based on Certainty

L3's based on Acceptability

L4's based on Well-Being.

L'5s based on Understanding

L6's based on Autonomy

L7's based on Selflessness

Operating Pressures

The pressures originally identified are «structural»" i.e. they contribute to constituting the entity or a part of its identity.

However, the entity must be operated as well, and investigation hs revealed that there is an «operating» pressure.

This has been developed in detail in regard to:

  • Q-arenas: based on a study of 5 Domains.

However, one example of this phenomenon has been identified in two other structures:

The next task was to clarify the nature and source of the patterning.

The pattern of pressures in the Types was identical to the Q-Arenas: 1° = 1° and 2° = 2°. However it was reversed in the Structural Hierarchy in that 1° = 2° and 2° = 1°.
