Further Analyses of the Anchors
The Story so Far
Investigations in the previous topic have suggested the following characterisations:
Group Progression
The tetrads show a sequencing escalation from to
In equalizing relations, the move is:
- from practical i.e. expedient harmonization in
- to social-ethical i.e. frank acknowledgement in
- to intellectual i.e. enterprising integration in
- to spiritual i.e. communal spirit in .
This parallels the tetrads for organising thinking that divide up psychosocial reality as identified in the framework for . The typical criticisms parallel the nature of these psychosocial domains.
Escalation is also evident in the threats to balance and relating:
Personal: fixation → dominance →secrecy →arrogance
Social: deadlock → discord → distancing → division.
Internal Characteristics
Internal levels have similar effects in each group:
-
g1 provides the initiation: weakness here means no foundation.
Detail -
g2 involves principles: weakness here means a loss of integrity.
Detail -
g3 focuses on engagement: weakness here means a loss of intensity.
Detail -
g4 is about adaptability: weakness here means no sustenance.

Oscillating Pattern
The triads indicated the possibility of an oscillating pattern:
involves assertion directed outwards to the socio-physical milieu and operating independently.
involves assertion directed inwards to oneself but dependent on confirmation from others.
involves assertion directed outwards to the socio-physical milieu and operating independently.
It therefore might be expected that:
The drive to will involve assertion directed inwards to oneself while depending on social confirmation. Observation confirms that this is the case. Relating is a personal matter, but must be confirmed by the counter-party, must be confirmed as constructive, while and cannot exist without the approval of others.
Odd-Even Division:
The odd tetrads, and , have greater practical or external inhibitors of effectiveness, like what resource has to be given up or might be lost.
The even tetrads, and , have greater inner emotional inhibitors of effectiveness, like fear and doubt.
is a feature of all four tetrads:
reliable for , because there can be no walking away'
explicit when , because it must be clear you are an insider assisting the group and not an outsider blocking it.
unequivocal when , because withdrawal secretly or overtly must be prohibited.
confident when , because bonding is grounded in participation.
Studies in the Architecture Room have determined a standard pattern for pressures in the groupings of structural hierarchies. These studies determined 1° pressures that are structural or identity-based.
The identified 1° pressure for G4 is certainty. This seens to apply here because the person can be expected to experience a pressure to be certain.
Recent studies in a structural hierarchy identified the presence of a 2° pressure related to operating groups within any grouping. The pressure driving use of the various G4-groups here——should be acceptability if it follows the standard pattern.
On reflection, that could fit because a person is unlikely to use or be allowed to use these if their operation is not acceptable both to the person and to the others involved.
Transition
Having mobilized relationships and retained your balance, you are now in a position to use yourself to attempt the impossible.
"Yourself" refers to personal capabilities which includes anything under your control that could be useful. The issue here is that a person often fails to appreciate their own unique talents, skills and resources and so shrinks from the attempt.
Capabilities must be recognized if they are to be tapped to find a way to act on the impossible situation in which you find yourself.
It is possible to by adding an additional adjacent level to form pentads that specify .
