Goodness All Round

The discovery of the Primal Injunctions-RH" (shown below right) provides us with the building blocks for producing goodness.

In whatever I attempt, I must remain authentic and true to who I am—otherwise the goodness would be a sham. I cannot live life as a cardboard cut-out: I need an intense and vital individuality. Goodness may well preserve humanity and it can better the lives of others, but it must better my psychosocial world as well. Anyone who says otherwise is hypocritical or self-deluded.

The Primal Injunction Hierarchy can be divided into a Transcendence part above that can restrain egoism, and an Actualization part below that enables your individuality. 'Caring about others' is the mediating virtue.

Such betterment for myself is provided by the lower three Injunctions because:

  • my enjoyment-RL"1 makes me feel good;
  • my ideals-RL"2 forward my values and interests in society;
  • my awareness-RL"3 helps me understand my self and my situation.

However, betterment for others is the main focus in the upper three Injunctions: 

  • seeing unity-RL"7 blocks my egocentricity at source;
  • doing what's right-RL"6 inhibits my unavoidable egotism;
  • doing my best-RL"5 maximizes my creation of value for others.

It seems caring about others-RL"4, the central Injunction, is the crucial mediator and reference point for goodness. That is hardly surprising. It must be self-evident that no-one generates goodness by callously riding roughshod over others.

Solution & Puzzle

The relevant Structural Hierarchy (RsH") requires all Primal Injunctions, individuality-driven and anti-egotistical, to operate in every grouping (i.e. level). This should enable a model for the authentic generation of goodness.

However, the Primal Injunctions are presented as rules, not methods, choices or spheres of living. So it is necessary to understand how they can serve as universal vehicles for goodness, i.e. simple processes found in all societies.

To orient myself, I started this inquiry at the obvious motivational source: the Will with its capacity for «good» energies i.e. goodwill.

Because the Primal Injunctions form the Root's Tertiary Hierarchy in a holistic way, the existence of a Structural Tertiary Hierarchy (RsH") would be expected.

In such a hierarchy, every Level is a Grouping that includes all 7 Levels of the originating hierarchy. So the three upper anti-egotistic vehicles will show up in every Level/Grouping, and the three lower individuality-oriented vehicles will also show up in each Level/Grouping.

With both anti-egotism tools and personal preferences intrinsic to every single Level/Grouping, this structure should provide us with the desired framework for a production of goodness that is authentic.

Structural hierarchies are developed by grouping adjacent levels of THEE’s 7-level holistic hierarchies (i.e. its levels imply or include each other). Most THEE Hierarchies including those derived from a spiral transformation are holistic, and therefore allow this re-modelling.

The first «Level» in a structural hierarchy is a Grouping of 1 level i.e. G1 contains 7 groups that are monads. The next «Level» will contain all Groups of 2 adjacent levels i.e. G2 contains 6 dyads…and so on.

As a result, every G-level contains all the levels of the originating hierarchy i.e. the original differentiation of an entity into Levels has been replaced by a re-unification applicable at each G-level.
