The Situation & My Choices

Root Projection is Neuro-physiological

THEE maps psychosocial reality. This reality starts from within each person as indicated in the Root Cell and Root Hierarchy.

However, each of us participates in more complex human systems as part of our efforts in relation to the Primal Needs. These often appear to function as individuals or are socially empowered to do so, and no single person can be fully responsible for them.

In living, we not only contribute to the psychosocial reality belonging to others, but we also engage with impersonal physical and social reality. As a result we find ourselves within a psychosocial reality that is not of our own making.

It is therefore necessary to distinguish been a map of the situation in principle in respect of a particular Primal Need, and a map that indicates the choices I personally should be making in relation to that Primal Need given that situation.

This is illustrated below for Achievement and Politics.

Governance

It is necessary to take a particular group for demonstration. I will therefore take society in a nation-state, but we might have taken the family, or considered geopolitics. A map of the situation is shown on the left (L) and your personal options are shown on the right (R).

There is no obligation on you to follow the R framework e.g. you do not have to respect human needs, or appreciate group opinion, or even seek your own benefit. However, this what the framework indicates would be in your best interests, and the best interests of your group.

In regard to society (Tree on the L), it is evident that you are a small particle. So in seeking your own benefit as a member you need to be aware of what is going on. The L Tree provides an objective picture of what is requisite for governance.

For example, at the base, it indicates that only groups get benefits, so in seeking your own benefit, you need to ally with a suitable group. While you should rely on the impartial rule of law (R), however, you need to observe how the rule of law is applied in practice (L).

The right column of the right diagram shows the two sets of psychosocial pressures that are operative. You may well be aware of the pressures for society (provided with an RL-prefix in blue), while needing to distinguish those from the pressures for yourself (provided with a KL- prefix in black). The Centre verbs are in black indicating they relate to you.

Achievement

Substantial achievement requires an organization and many staff. A Tree-map of the determinants of achievement of an organization is shown below on the left. This Tree-map is somewhat different to the determinants of achievement for you, which is shown on the right.

In the personal Tree-map, as explained above, you are aware of the pressures for the organization (provided with an RL-prefix in blue ) and distinguish those from the pressures on yourself (provided with a KL- prefix in black). The verbs are in black indicating they relate to your pressures.

Generalization

It appears that the above orientations to functioning can be generalized to all THEE Trees: i.e. there are always two outlooks:

■ requisite impersonal handling (objectively expected)
&
■ self-centred personal handling (subjectively appropriate).

Conjecture:

The requisite impersonal or objective Trees will have distinctive verbs qualifying the noun-entity in the Centres, and distinctively-labeled Channels.

The self-centred personal or subjective Trees will have identical verbs qualifying the noun-entity in the Centres, and identically-labeled Channels.

All self-centred Trees will have the Personal pole dominating at L5 and L6, and the Social pole dominating at L3.

Example:  A Worthwhile Project (PH6K)
