THEE emerged from efforts to solve practical problems, but the usefulness that emerged turned out to be deeper and more powerful than expected.
With the deeper understanding achieved more recently, it is evident that the Taxonomy is a map of influences that occur unconsciously during endeavours of all sorts. It is possible to bring these influences into awareness. Once that occurs, knowledge of how endeavour elements function and interact is definitely useful. At the least, when coordinating a group challenge, it is helpful to know that you are moving with the grain of human nature.
The focus of any taxonomic inquiry and any use of taxonomic knowledge is always a framework. This refers to a complete taxonomic system, like a hierarchy, typology, spiral or tree. More recent work has revealed Frameworks that are non-taxonomic e.g. useful for overcoming setbacks.
Because the Taxonomy exists as a deep controller of any endeavour, all Frameworks will have practical relevance. But exactly how usefulness is extracted depends on the issue and the individuals. It may seem obvious that awareness is helpful, but it is less obvious how awareness can be guided by using taxonomic Frameworks.
Taxonomic Frameworks are contexts for real world challenges—so they do not give anyone «answers» or a «best solution». Rather they get you thinking along the right lines and stimulate the imagination. Solutions cannot be implemented without regard to the nature of the person or people involved and the particularities of their situations. So an important aspect of THEE is that it helps you find an answer that works for you and remains right in principle. Your necessary autonomy and responsibility are both enhanced by taxonomic awareness.
You, like everyone else, are naturally creative. Certainly no one can be creative for you. So it is up to you to harness your inner potentials: and THEE aligns with these.
However, you must consciously align yourself with THEE. That involves making a few basic choices in running your life: •You must throw yourself into life. •You must depend on yourself primarily. •You must accept responsibility for whatever you think and do. •You must be prepared to confront and manage inner negative impulses as they emerge.
Receptivity and openness are essential requirements for effective reflection. This applies as much to studying any Framework as to applying it in a tricky situation. All Frameworks engage, empower and extend your existing knowledge and experience.
Most learning is provided when we are socialized during our upbringing, education and occupation. Any knowledge that is valid remains valid, but incorporating a Framework often requires a degree of inner adjustment. Such unlearning is about respecting ideas and perspectives previously labeled as alien or wrong. Personal growth involves putting your hard-won understanding of how the world works into a different or broader context.
Understanding
There is no substitute for plunging into a particular Satellite of interest to you. However, in order to appreciate the usefulness of the Frameworks, it may help you to be aware of the following:
